學習中心現況
Growing Tree Learning Center成立於2004年8月,為18個月至六歲的兒童提供中英雙語幼兒園服務。此外,我們還為幼兒園到五年級的學生提供課後輔導。
為了滿足社區內日益增長的成人中文學習需求,我們於2021年6月在僑務委員會的倡議下成立了台灣華語學習中心。該中心提供實用且系統化的中文學習機會,並以台灣風格的教育為重點。而目前我們正在進行第六期的華語課程。
Current Status
Growing Tree Learning Center established in August 2004, Growing Tree Learning Center provides bilingual(Chinese and English) kindergarten services for children aged 18 months to six years old. Additionally, we offer after-school tutoring for kindergarten to fifth-grades students.
To meet the increasing demand for adult Chinese language learning in our community, we established the Taiwan Mandarin Learning Center in conjunction with the Overseas Community Affairs Council’s initiative in June 2021. This center offers practical and systematic Chinese language learning opportunities, focusing on Taiwanese-style education. Currently, we are in the sixth term of Mandarin study course.
課程特色
我們的教學不僅強調學生的聽、說、讀、寫四項基本能力,還致力於加強文化傳承教育,讓學員深入了解中華和臺灣的豐富文化。課程設計中融入了多樣化的文化體驗活動,例如:
- 參加端午節活動:親手包粽子,了解端午節的歷史和傳統。
- 中華文化體驗:練習書法,掌握基本筆畫和書寫技巧。
- 動手包水餃:學習製作傳統水餃,體驗中華飲食文化。
- 製作臺灣飯糰:探索臺灣美食文化,親自動手製作具有地方特色的臺灣飯糰。
這些文化體驗活動不僅幫助學生在實際情境中應用所學知識,提升語言運用能力,同時也深化了他們對傳統文化的理解和認同,使他們更加立體地感受到文化的多樣性。
我們的課程安排非常靈活,針對不同程度的學員提供適當的課程內容,並為每位學員訂製個性化的教學計劃。不論是初學者還是進階學習者,都能在系統化的指導下取得進步。這樣的安排不僅有助於提升語言能力,還能深化對文化多樣性的理解和欣賞,為學員開啟更廣闊的國際視野。
Course Specialties
Our teaching not only emphasizes the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, but also aims to enhance cultural heritage education, allowing students to gain a deep understanding of the rich cultures of China and Taiwan. Our course design incorporates diverse cultural experience activities, such as:
- Participating in Dragon Boat Festival activities: making zongzi by hand and learning about the history and traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival.
- Experiencing Chinese culture: practicing calligraphy and mastering basic strokes and writing techniques.
- Making dumplings: learning to make traditional dumplings and experiencing Chinese culinary culture.
- Making Taiwanese rice balls: exploring Taiwanese food culture and personally making local specialty Taiwanese rice balls.
These cultural experience activities not only help students apply their knowledge in real-life situations and enhance their language skills but also deepen their understanding and appreciation of traditional culture, allowing them to experience the diversity of culture more comprehensively.
Our course schedule is very flexible, providing appropriate course content for students at different levels and creating personalized teaching plans for each student. Whether beginners or advanced learners, everyone can make progress under systematic guidance. This arrangement not only helps improve language skills but also deepens the understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity, opening up broader international perspectives for students.

Course Content
Beginner Class:
(1) Course Content: The course primarily uses “Learn Chinese Book 1” and focuses on practical daily life needs and usability (self-introduction, days of the week, weather, colors, shapes, pictograms, short listening and speaking passages, etc.). The learning objectives are to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading, and typing for real-life applications. Classroom activities and cultural events are used to practice conversation and introduce Taiwanese customs.
(2) Course Progress: Based on the learning environment and abilities of adult learners, the course involves quantitative and practical conversation practice. Emphasis is placed on developing listening, speaking, reading, and typing skills through interactive dialogue and task-based activities to enhance listening and speaking abilities.
(3) Student Learning Outcomes: In addition to the Chinese language course, the center arranges a variety of rich cultural experience activities, combining Chinese language learning with cultural experiences. This approach aims to expose students to traditional Chinese culture, helping them learn Chinese more effectively. The class also includes various games, such as Chinese character monopoly and sentence-building draws. Cultural activities include making rice balls, bubble tea, calligraphy, and introducing various Taiwanese festivals and cultural customs.
Advanced Class:
(1) Course Content: The course primarily uses “Learn Chinese Book 2” and focuses on practical daily life needs (moving, work, hobbies, daily life, medical visits, traveling in Taiwan, etc.), usability, real-life dialogue conversations, and enhanced listening and speaking training. Additional typing materials are provided, with the learning objectives being the development of listening, speaking, reading, and typing skills for real-life applications. Classroom activities and cultural events are used to practice conversation and introduce Taiwanese customs.
(2) Course Progress: The course covers the second book and cultural chapters. The lessons, vocabulary, and grammar are adjusted according to the learning environment and abilities of adult learners, involving quantitative and practical conversation practice. Emphasis is placed on developing listening, speaking, reading, and typing skills through interactive dialogue and task-based activities to enhance listening and speaking abilities.
(3) Student Learning Outcomes: In addition to the Chinese language course, the center arranges a variety of rich cultural experience activities, combining Chinese language learning with cultural experiences. This approach aims to expose students to traditional Chinese culture, helping them learn Chinese more effectively. Classroom cultural activities include making rice balls, bubble tea, calligraphy, and introducing various Taiwanese festivals and cultural customs. At the end of the term, students are provided with the opportunity to take a Chinese proficiency quick test.
